Golden Week Baby!!

It's Golden Week!! Totemo tanoshimi! I am officially on a well needed vacation. In Japan, there are 3 weeks in the year that are designated as national holiday weeks. I am just starting the first which is called "Golden Week". I don't know the meaning of this holiday...perhaps something I should research. Really, the most important thing is that I have 9 days off! haha The last 6 months or so of my life have been a little challenging with extended illnesses, heartbreak, moving to a new country and starting a new job, so this vacation has come at the perfect time! The only con of having my vacation during the rest of Japan's vacation time is that travelling is brutally expensive. I would love to go to Southern Japan or to a beach somewhere but it's just not economically feasible at this time. Sooo instead, I am spending a couple of days in Hitachi to catch up on some chores and maybe to study some Japanese and then on Tuesday I will head down to Tokyo with Megumi and spend the evening at Disney Sea! The next day I'll do a bit of shopping (or window shopping in my case) and watch Megumi's boyfriend, Shogo's basketball game. This should be an exciting one because he plays Varsity ball at some University in Tokyo! On Thursday, I'll head to Tokyo Disneyland for the day and then come back to Hitachi. The weekend is reserved for a little overnight trip to Sendai (just north of Hitachi) with my student Wakana. I am not entirely sure what I will be doing there and when I ask my students what I should do there, they all say "Sendai is famous for cow's tongue". haha...yeah that is definitely the reason why I am going there.

Unfortunately, I tried cow's tongue last night at a Welcome Party for my coworker Greg's parents.
